Fellowship programs that take fresh PhD graduates and give them 1-2 years of training in those fields are a great way to make the transition. Join us to meet recent PhDs who have done fellowship programs at Boehringer Ingelheim, Regeneron and AstraZeneca to learn how they landed those prized fellowships and what their experience was like in the program and what their next steps in their career will be.

However, PhD students and postdocs are spending years in academic labs so how to get that experience? Doing an internship or co-op while in graduate school is one option and it requires a lot of planning including getting your PI to agree to let you do it. Come hear from 4 PhD students who have recently done internships and co-ops to learn how they navigated the process, including the application, the university paperwork, their thesis research, and what they learned in industry that will help them in their next career move!

Project management is a skill that we all develop during our PhD education while working on our thesis project and it is in high demand in industry settings!  We will learn some of the tools that project managers use in industry including different approaches and theories behind the software. We will also hear from several panelists who have made the transition from the bench to being a project manager and what advice they can share if you want to follow that path.
