Physics & Astronomy

Program Description

The graduate program is designed to give students a broad understanding of classical and modern physics, with intensive training in one of the frontier areas of modern research. A thesis of original research is required for Ph.D. students, to give the students experience in advancing themselves to the leading edge of an important area of physics. Students are encouraged to study several sub-disciplines of physics so that they will be prepared to apply their fundamental knowledge beyond the field of their thesis work.

Biomedical Engineering

Program Description

The Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program is intended for promising students aiming to make original contributions to the field of biomedical engineering. We offer degrees that reflect individual student goals from career advancement to research-intensive. Our students receive outstanding graduate-level training from among six critical areas of biomedical engineering and technology, including: 
•    Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering 
•    Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Engineering

Program Description

Our graduate program offers well-prepared students rigorous training by some of the best philosophers in the world.  After starting with a proseminar only for first years, students continue taking multiple small seminars, as well as participating in reading groups and receiving one-on-one mentoring.

Linguistics

Program Description

Our internationally-renowned Linguistics department at Rutgers–New Brunswick stands at the center of work in Phonology (including learnability), Syntax (specifically, Generative Grammar), Morphology, and Semantics and its interface with Pragmatics. Our department has a strong experimental core and laboratory culture investigating Language Acquisition and Development, and each of the subfields mentioned above.
