Professional development, mentoring, and community for biomedical Ph.D. students at Rutgers. Inspired by IMSD, EDGE helps students build confidence, navigate graduate training successfully, and grow toward scientific independence.

WHAT EDGE OFFERS

1 EDGE Bootcamps (Years 1-3)
Summer preparation for the academic year ahead, with training
in data analysis, scientific communication, mentoring, and
wellness.

2 EDGE Workshops + MSD Course (Years 1-3)
Optional participation through the 1-credit Maximizing Student
Development course (16:718:515:01).

3 EDGE Seminar Series + Annual Symposium (All Years)
Professional opportunities to present research throughout the
year and each spring at the EDGE Symposium.

4 EDGE Coaching + Mentoring (All Years)
Support through the EDGE Individual Development Plan (EDGEIDP),
plus optional coaching from certified professional coaches.

5 EDGE Community Events (All Years)
Informal gatherings, networking events, and shared celebrations
that foster belonging and connection

One-on-one support that helps students reflect, plan, and build
confidence as emerging scientists.
