The P.E.O. Scholar Award provides educational awards for women who are pursuing a doctoral level degree at an accredited college or university.
P.E.O. Scholar Awards are one-time, competitive, merit-based awards for women of the United States and Canada who are pursuing a doctoral level degree at an accredited college or university. In addition to recognizing and encouraging excellence in higher education, these awards provide partial support for study and research for women who will make significant contributions in their varied fields of endeavor. Priority is given to women who are well established in their programs, study or research. The numbers of awards is determined each year in accordance with the funds available. The current maximum award is $15,000.
Rutgers University-New Brunswick women who are pursuing a doctoral degree may apply to be nominated to be invited to interview to apply for the award.

The criteria for nomination is a follows:
- A women seeking her PhD or Doctoral Degree
- Within 2 years of Graduation – 2018
- Is a citizen of the US or Canada
- Is a full time student – per the Rutgers criteria of such
- Has strong academic performance with possible honors
- Has published or presented in her field of study
- Has shown potential to make an impact in her field of study and is well established
- Can provide an up to date CV to be included with her application

Step 1: Submit application for nomination. All completed nominations are forward to a P.E.O. representative for review. Selected students will be invited to interview by a representative from a local P.E.O. chapter. Applications for nominations must be submitted by 9am on October 17, 2016. To apply, complete this application form. As a part of your application upload through the application form a pdf file with the following required documents:
- CV
- Intellectual biography of no more than 2 pages that describes your dissertation project, career goals and accomplishments.
- A letter of support from your dissertation advisor, written on university letterhead and signed by your advisor.
Step 2: Interview with local P.E.O. chapter in person in an on-campus interview that will be held in late October/early November.
Step 3: After the interview, selected students will be invited to submit a full application for review at the national level. Each nominee is required to:
- Complete an on line application with 45 days of her nomination
- Provide 3 Letters of recommendation from advisors or mentors
- Send a copy of her transcript
- Provide a statement or summary of her studies and goals

To apply for nomination complete the form below and include with your submission a PDF file that has your CV, 2 page intellectual biography that details your career goals, dissertation project and major accomplishments and a support letter from your dissertation advisor that is signed by your advisor and written on university letterhead. The PDF file should include your first and last name.
