Graduate Student Fellowships for Alternatives to the Use of Animals in Science

The fellowships provide assistance to graduate students whose programs of study seem likely to have impact on the development and implementation of scientifically valid alternatives to the use of animals in research, product testing, and education.

Jacob Hirsch Fellowship

PhD candidates in the U.S. or Israel who are dissertations in archaeology or recent Ph.D.’s completing a project, such as the revision of a dissertation for publication are eligible. Each project requires a lengthy residence in Greece. The fellowship duration is 9 months.

James R. Vogt Scholarship

An early graduate scholarship is available to undertake research in radio-analytical chemistry or its applications. All applicants must be sponsored by an ANS organization.

Fellowship in Electrical History

IEEE Fellowship in Electrical History supports either one year of full-time graduate work in the history of electrical science and technology at a college or university of recognized standing, or up to one year of post-doctoral research for a scholar in this field who has received his Ph.D. within the past three years. Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship

The Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship supports advanced study in the US or abroad. Three fellowships are awarded: one in music; one in architectural design and history, theatre, or dance; and one in art, architecture, dance, landscape architecture, theatre, or urban and regional planning.

Chateaubriand Scholarship Program in the Humanities and Social Sciences

This award supports outstanding Ph.D. students from American universities who seek to engage in research in France, in any discipline of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Research can be conducted over a period of 4-8 months. The monthly stipend is €1,500.

Air Pollution Educational and Research Grant (APERG)

The goal of this grant is to provide financial support that enables doctoral students and postdoctoral scientists to pursue research on air pollution, air quality, the atmosphere, or another closely related field of study. Applicants must be in the MASS-A&WMA region.

SDE Fellowships

SDE fellowships support women holding a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, of outstanding ability and promise in research, who are performing hypothesis-driven research at any institution in the U.S. or abroad. A maximum of $10,000 may be requested.

International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF)

The Mellon IDRF offers 9-12 months of support to graduate students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences who are enrolled in PhD programs in the United States. Dissertation research must be conducted outside the United States, about non-US topics. The average award is $20,000.

Doctoral Fellowships

This $20,000 award supports doctoral candidates who are non-ROC (non-Taiwan) citizens and who are writing their dissertations in the field of Chinese Studies in the humanities and social sciences enrolled in an accredited university in the United States.
