Fellowship Program

ARCE administers short term fellowships for study in Egypt (up to 12 months) for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students. Amounts and time frames vary by fellowship.

Carl A. Scott Book Scholarships

The awards will be made to students from ethnic groups of color (African American, American Indian, Asian American, Mexican American, and Puerto Rican) who are in their last year of study for a social work degree in a baccalaureate or master’s degree program accredited by CSWE. The Garden Club of America/Royal Horticultural Society Interchange Fellowships

To foster British-American interchange of scholars and information in horticulture, landscape architecture, and related fields, the RHS Interchange Fellowship provides up to 12,000 GBP for one American student to spend ten months working and studying at leading UK horticultural centers or gardens.

Catherine H. Beattie Fellowship

Provides one annual research grant of up to $4500, regarded as compensation for work at a botanical garden by the student, who jointly serves the program of the Center for Plant Conservation and his/her curricular studies.

Frances M. Peacock Scholarship for Native Bird Habitat

Financial assistance to college seniors and graduate students to study habitat-related issues that will benefit threatened or endangered bird species and lend useful information for land management decisions.

GCA Award in Coastal Wetlands Studies

This $5,000 award supports young scientists in their fieldwork and research in coastal wetlands (defined as those tidal or nontidal wetlands found in the coastal states, including those of the Great Lakes). Open to graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in coastal wetlands science.

Loy McCandless Marks Scholarship In Tropical Ornamental Horticulture

Funds one student in even numbered years. For well-qualified U.S. undergraduates (above the freshman year) or graduate students from U.S. colleges and universities to assist in their study of tropical ornamental horticulture at an appropriate foreign institution.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships for Advanced Asian Language Study

Fellowships are awarded for one academic year of full-time advanced level language study in East or Southeast Asia in approved language programs. Applicants must be pursuing careers using of one of the eight approved modern East/Southeast Asian languages and be at or near advanced language level.

Master’s Thesis Fellowships

Full support of a single $500 award is available for a one-week fellowship period to encourage use of our research collections by M.A. students developing and researching thesis topics. Partial support is available for students residing in Kentucky who travel from beyond the greater Louisville area.
