The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is at the forefront of experimental and computational genome research. We are recognized leaders in genome sequencing, high throughput systems, informatics and analysis of gene function using genetic approaches in a variety of model organisms and humans. **There are multiple deadlines each year. Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Research Fellowships within the framework of a hosting Sanger Faculty laboratory offering state of the art facilties. Successful candidates will be awarded a fellowship with a competitive starting salary plus excellent benefits. This post is initially offered for three years after which it is expected that the candidate will seek independent support. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have completed their PhD within the last year.

If your outline proposal is supported by a faculty member, you will be issued with a confirmation code which needs including in the application form. Without this code the form will not submit.

The sponsoring Faculty member must submit a letter of support to the Post-Doc Committee clarifying the nature of their involvement in the preparation of the proposal and a statement that they will underwrite any research costs over and above the ¿15K per year provided by the fellowship.

ELIGIBILITY: Candidates for this programme will be encouraged from all nations. Candidates will have recently (within one year) completed their PhD or are close to completion (e.g. at thesis submission stage). In the latter case, award of a Sanger Postdoctoral Fellowship will be subject to successful completion of the PhD. Applications of more experienced candidates, who are considering a career change, may be considered on a case by case basis.
