The Conference Grant

The J. R. Smallwood Foundation offers conference grants in support of scholarly conferences that
are within the Foundation’s mandate. A conference and its organizers can be affiliated with Memorial University or other institutions. Applications for conference grants together with other grant applications are adjudicated by an Awards Panel. Reflecting the Foundation’s financial resources, funding for conference grants tends to be modest. While there is no formal limit on the amount of a conference grant, awards may be expected to range up to a few thousand dollars. This application must be completed by the person organizing the conference or a person delegated by the conference’s organizing committee.
