Senior Fellowship

The American Institute of Bangladesh is a consortium of U.S. Institutions of Higher Education involved in research on Bangladesh, institutional development of educational institutions in Bangladesh, faculty exchanges, and sending U.S. graduate as well as undergraduate student to Bangladesh. Our mission is to improve the scholarly understanding of Bangladesh culture and society in the United States. By sending U.S. students and scholars to Bangladesh we also promote better understanding of U.S. culture and society in Bangladesh.

The American Institute of Bangladesh Studies awards grants of four to twelve months duration for senior research fellowship in Bangladesh. Grantees must be United States citizens or permanent residents. In addition to stipends in Bangladeshi taka, the grants provide round trip transportation. Applications must be received by February 1 with consideration for study beginning in the summer or fall of that same year.

Senior Fellowship are for those who have a Ph.D. They may have well developed research agenda on Bangladesh or maybe interested in developing a research agenda on Bangladesh.

Fellowship will be equivalent to $1,000 per month plus research and dependents’ allowances in non-convertible Bangladesh Taka.

Round-Trip Air Transportation will be provided via the most direct route and using Bangladesh carrier whenever possible.
