Scholarships for Emigres in the Health Professions

This program provides scholarships for emigres from the former Soviet Union to train in medicine, dentistry, dental hygiene, nursing, pharmacy, occupational and physical therapy, physician assistant, CVT, and sonography programs. Scholarships will be awarded for a maximum of $5,000. Awards will be renewed annually for the duration of the program for which the student is given the grant, provided the student remains in good standing at her school and there is no significant change in her financial situation.

Fifty new scholarships are awarded annually, as are approximately 80 renewals.

Eligibility: Students must be from the former Soviet Union, live in New York City or the counties of Nassau, Suffolk or Westchester and must already be enrolled in or about to enroll in a health science program within that geographic area. Pre-medical students, for example, are not eligible to apply for this program. Students must be enrolled full time, in good standing, and demonstrate financial need.

****Applications are available on this website from mid-March until the application deadline in mid-June.
