Saint Andrew’s Society Scholarships

Awards are made to scholars enrolled in US or Scottish institutions for the third or fourth year of College or University or full-time graduate study. There are two different awards:

* The James & Mary Dawson Scholarship of $5,000 is available for Scots coming to the USA for graduate or post-graduate level study, with preference to those pursuing scientific and engineering degrees.

* The Donald Malcolm MacArthur Scholarship of $2,500 is available for an American studying in Scotland.

To be eligible, scholars must be of Scottish birth or descent. Applicants who are British subjects must have been born in Scotland. Applicants who are United States citizens must maintain their permanent residence in the Mid-Atlantic Region (defined here as comprising the District of Columbia, the States of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia, and the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia).

Special attention will be given to applicants whose work would demonstrably contribute toward enhancing knowledge of Scottish history or culture.
