Lincoln Park Zoo’s Research Internship program focuses on training young scientists to conduct independent research projects that are relevant to the management and conservation of small captive populations.
Interns have the opportunity to conduct research projects under the guidance of staff scientists in one or more of the following areas:
Demography
Population Genetics
Population Modeling
Animal Behavior
Nutrition
Epidemiology
Conservation
In addition to research opportunities, the program will also give interns exposure to the conservation activities of the zoo via short-term conservation projects, as well as exposure to the system of population management used in the cooperative management programs of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA).
Internships are a minimum of three months and a maximum of one year in duration.
