Grants are available for conservation work or research which may be of conservation benefit.
There are no formal deadlines. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis by a conservation sub-committee and successful applications then have to be approved by the Council of the Neotropical Bird Club.
Awards are only given to projects carried out by nationals and/or residents of countries in the Neotropics (including mainland South America; Central America; the Caribbean islands). dditionally, applicants are advised that priority will be given to:
– projects which will benefit in proportionate terms from a small grant;
– projects that are likely to achieve high global conservation benefit (e.g. targeting a globally threatened species or a site of high conservation significance); and/or
– projects that are likely to achieve constructive local or international publicity.
Applicants need to demonstrate that their project is feasible, that they have adequate competence to carry out the project, and that their methodology is suitable.
