The NARSAD Young Investigator Award Program offers up to $30,000 a year for up to two (2) years to enable promising investigators to either extend their research fellowship training or to begin careers as independent research faculty.
The program is intended to facilitate innovative research opportunities and supports basic and/or translational or clinical investigators, but research must be relevant to understanding, treatment, or prevention of schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or child and adolescent psychiatric disorders. Applicants must possess a doctoral level degree (M.D., Ph.D., Psy.D.) and already be employed in research training at time of application (postdoctoral fellows, instructors, assistant professors or equivalent). Application requires a letter from an on-site mentor/sponsor who is an established investigator in areas relevant to psychiatric disorders. Letter should state how the award will enhance the applicant’s training or facilitate the transition to an independent investigator of relevance to NARSAD’S mission and describing the mentor’s/sponsor’s commitment to facilitate the specific research proposal.
