Update 8/23/10: “For information about HMDC Fellowships, please contact our search committee.” See “Contact Us” portion of website for up-to-date contact information.
Fellowships support scholars with a strong background in statistics and social science for a 1-year fellowship at the Harvard MIT Data Center (HMDC). While at HMDC fellows will spend a portion of their time assisting researchers and students with statistical analysis.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the statistics as applied to social science (e.g. political methodology, econometrics, sociometrics, psychometrics), statistical programming skills, communication skills, and substantive research interest that would allow them to take best advantage of the IQSS research environment. Experience with the legal profession and legal research, and as a statistical consultant or teaching fellow in a statistics course is highly desirable.
Interested parties should send a letter of interest that summarizes your experience with statistical methodology and statistical computing; an academic vita; a writing sample; any teaching evaluations if available for statistic courses; and two letters of recommendation (preferably focusing on both statistical knowledge, teaching experience and the usual academic merit).
