The award includes a check for $500, a certificate, inclusion of the paper in the program of the 2001 North American Labor History Conference (NALHC), October 18 to 20, 2001, and a travel grant to help defray costs of attending the conference. The award’s purpose is to stimulate research in working class history and to recognize outstanding work by a young scholar in the field. The award committee solicits nominations of substantial original research papers from faculty mentors regardless of geographic or chronological field. Nominations must come from a faculty mentor, not the author of the paper.
