DESCRIPTION: The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Measurement Science and Engineering Fellowship Program invites applications for research Graduate Fellowships in measurement science and engineering. Fellows will work collaboratively in existing programs at: NIST headquarters in Gaithersburg, Maryland; Hollings Marine Laboratory in Charleston, South Carolina; NIST labs in Boulder, Colorado; or JILA, Boulder, Colo. Fellows will be nominally funded until they obtain their M.S. or Ph.D., or for the duration of the grant (present-12/31/12), whichever comes first. Note that fellows would retain their status as graduate students working toward a M.S. or Ph.D. from their home institutions. Subject areas are described at http://www.nist.gov, or jila.colorado.edu.
QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Science, Mathematics, Physics, or allied fields. Must be enrolled full-time at a U.S., Ph.D.-granting institution. Demonstrated research and communication skills and the ability to work on an interdisciplinary team are required.
SALARY: Starting at $30K/year, or the appropriate graduate assistant level at fellow’s home institution.
