Graduate Associates Program

The Graduate Associate Fellowship program provides a forum for students to pursue their research activity in a critical interdisciplinary environment. Associate Fellows participate in the year-long Fellows Seminar at CHAT, receive a $1000 research award, and design a conference or workshop held in Spring. In the Fellows Seminar, members present their work for discussion and critique by the full group of graduate and faculty fellows. Discussions are lively and focus on methodological issues. The research award can be used for standard research expenses, including travel to conferences or archives, membership fees in professional associations, and book and equipment purchases.

CHAT expects the majority of Associate Fellows will be enrolled in Ph.D. programs, but exceptional graduate students enrolled in other terminal degree programs may also apply. Regardless of the degree sought, Associate Fellows must be in at least the third year of their program of study during their tenure at the Center. Associates remain eligible for all other CHAT Fellowships and may apply for them at any time.
