Division on Dynamical Astronomy-Student Stipend Program

The Division on Dynamical Astronomy of the American Astronomical Society will provide up to two stipends of $600 each on a competitive basis to students who wish to attend the DDA annual meeting. In addition to the stipend award, meeting registration and banquet fees are waived for the stipend winners.

The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in an academic program at any college or university and doing research in the area of dynamical astronomy. Such research areas include, but are not limited to:

  • the dynamics of planetary systems (small bodies, planetary rings, natural and artificial satellites, extrasolar planets, etc.)
  • star and planet formation
  • star cluster dynamics
  • hydro- and plasma dynamics
  • galactic and extragalactic dynamics
  • cosmology

The stipends will be awarded at the meeting. Students should plan on attending and giving a regular oral presentation at the meeting, and join the DDA if not already a member. Recipients will need to follow the regular procedure for registration and abstract submittal. However, their registration and banquet fees will be waived (procedural details provided upon notification of winning). Recipients must arrange their own travel and lodging.
