The Cooperative Research Centre for Viticulture seeks to accelerate quality viticultural management from `vine to palate’, ensuring the economic and environmental sustainability of Australia’s grapegrowing industries. As part of this initiative a position is available in the strategic research program on the Molecular Improvement of Grapevine.
We require a Post-doctoral fellow to contribute to a research project on the molecular genetic characterisation of a powdery mildew resistance gene in grapevine. The research will involve the physical mapping of molecular genetic markers onto a grapevine BAC library for map-based cloning of this resistance gene. Essential requirements for the position include a background in genetic and physical mapping techniques and a Ph.D. in plant genetics or plant molecular biology.
The position is for a term of 3 years.
