The Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society awards the Ben H. Procter Southwest Social Science Award each year to students presenting the best papers at the Phi Alpha Theta sessions at the annual Southwestern Social Science Association Meeting. The prizes include monetary stipends. Awards may be given in each of three categories:
Three in European History
Three in Latin American/World History
Three in United States History
Student presenters at all levels of preparation are encourage to enter the competition. Only members of Phi Alpha Theta can receive prizes.
