The Ford Foundation Predoctoral and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship proposal writing tutorials, which include our Prezi and workbooks, will take you step-by-step through the process of writing your funding application and teach you how to break down your application into manageable parts. The workbooks will be the foundational content of our program, and the exercises that they contain will help you develop your application draft.

Blog Post #1
In this blog post, we would like you to give us a sense of how you came to do what you do. In other words, how did you develop an interest in your topic? What animates your research? We would like you to tell us this through a story—any story you pick. Maybe you encountered a rare document in the archives, had an ethnographic encounter during your fieldwork, came across a book that changed your life, or had a breakthrough in the lab. Tell us about that story! Your tone does not need to be formal, so please savor the process of writing rather than thinking about formalities. This is your chance to introduce your topic to the broader public, so feel free to be creative!

Our program will begin with a virtual, asynchronous workshop designed for you to become acquainted with the peer mentors, GradFund, and the Early Graduate Study Fellowship Mentoring Program. We will conclude this program with an in-person workshop. The workshop will include activities to help you move forward with your application, set goals, and meet with winners of the NSF GRF and Ford Predoctoral Fellowship. Lunch will be provided.
