Paul Mellon Fellowship

One fellowship is awarded annually for 36 months. The fellowship is intended for the advancement and completion of a doctoral dissertation in Western art and to enable a candidate to reside abroad for two years to develop expertise in a specific city. Berkshire Conference of Women Historians Graduate Student Fellowship

This fellowship is awarded to a graduate student completing a dissertation in a history department. The award is intended to support either a crucial stage of research or the final year of writing. Applicants may specialize in any field of history.

20th Century Japan Research Awards

$1,500 grants are offered for research in the library’s Prange Collection and East Asia Collection on topics related to the period of the Allied Occupation of Japan and its aftermath, 1945-1960.

Southeastern Europe Research Program

The W. Stull Holt Dissertation Fellowship

This $4,000 fellowship is intended to defray the costs of travel necessary to conduct research on a significant dissertation project. Applicants must be working on dissertations dealing with some aspect of U.S. foreign relations history. Membership in SHAFR is required.

Junior Fellowship

Available to doctoral candidates at U.S. colleges and universities in all fields of study. Junior Research Fellowships are specifically designed to enable doctoral candidates to pursue dissertation research in India for up to 11 months. The deadline to apply is July 1.
