Loy McCandless Marks Scholarship In Tropical Ornamental Horticulture

Funds one student in even numbered years. For well-qualified U.S. undergraduates (above the freshman year) or graduate students from U.S. colleges and universities to assist in their study of tropical ornamental horticulture at an appropriate foreign institution.

John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising and Marketing History J. Walter Thompson Research fellowships

The JWT Research Fellowships provide $1000 in funds for up to three individuals planning research trips for a minimum of two weeks primarily to use the J. Walter Thompson Archives.

SDE Fellowships

SDE fellowships support women holding a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, of outstanding ability and promise in research, who are performing hypothesis-driven research at any institution in the U.S. or abroad. A maximum of $10,000 may be requested.

Eloise Gerry Fellowships

These awards support female scientists conducting research in the natural sciences at the doctoral or postdoctoral level. The funds can be used for research supplies and travel to a research site. Up to $10,000 can be requested as part of the application.

Vessa Notchev Fellowships

This award supports research in all the natural sciences, including physical, environmental, mathematical, computer, life sciences, anthropology, psychology and statistics. A maximum of $10,000 can be requested.

Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellows Program

This program provides a 10 week summer experience working in a media outlet, in order to increase communication between scientists and journalists. The award includes travel expenses as well as a weekly stipend for the fellowship tenure.

Philip M. Smith Graduate Research Grant for Cave and Karst Research

Awawrded for research on issues related to caves and karst. For qualified students in natural and social sciences

Ruggles-Gates Fund for Biological Anthropology

Provides grants for research in biological anthropology. Preference will be given to those applications which lie within human population biology, human genetics, human ethology and paleoanthropology.

The Douglass Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design

Annual grant for the study of history and design in the American garden. Also intended to look to the future of gardens, their place in the environment. Project study would have wide scope. Open to graduate students for study and research at a US institution.

Travel Grant

To fund travel to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa. Current graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and independent researchers are eligible to apply. An applicant should contact the archival staff to determine if Library holdings are pertinent to the applicant’s research. Finding aids for library’s major holdings are available online at http://www.hoover.nara.gov
