Solmsen Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Institute offers 3 one-year Solmsen Postdoctoral Fellowships to scholars from other universities working on literary and historical studies of the European Classical, Medieval, and Renaissance periods up to about the year 1700, awarded through an annual competition. Applicants must be in possession of the doctorate at the time of application.

James P. Danky Fellowship

This fellowship provides $1,000 for use of the collections of the Wisconsin Historical Society for research related to print culture and history. Grant money may be used for travel to the WHS, costs of copying pertinent archival resources, and living expenses while pursuing research.

Creative Writing Fellowships

This fellowship provides up to a $30,000 stipend for living expenses to assist writers of poetry and fiction to publish a first or second book. Successful applicants must commit to reside in the Madison area for the full duration of the Fellowship from mid-August to mid-May.
