Boren Fellowships

This fellowship supports U.S. graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad. Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded. Fellows must agree to the NSEP Service Requirement.

Boren Awards African Flagship Languages Initiative (AFLI)

Graduate students applying for Boren Fellowships for overseas research and language training can receive additional funding for domestic or overseas language study in African languages and French prior to the start of their award period.
