The John Carter Brown Library Short-Term Fellowships
These fellowships provide 2-4 months of support to scholars whose work is centered on the colonial history of the Americas, North and South, including all aspects of the European, African, and Native American engagement. Graduate students must be ABD at the time of application.

Chateaubriand Fellowship- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
This fellowship aims to initiate or reinforce collaborations, partnerships or joint projects by encouraging exchange at the doctoral level. PhD students at an American university can conduct research in a French laboratory for 4-9 months as part of a co-supervised PhD.
Ernest S. Frerichs Annual Professorship
Recipient is expected to assist in planning and implementing the Ernest S. Frerichs Program for Albright Fellows, which requires a working knowledge of living and traveling in Israel.
George A. Barton Fellowship
$3,000 award for 1 month. Room and half-board at the Institute is $1,200 per month and the remainder is stipend. Open to all doctoral students and recent Ph.D. (degree granted within last 5 years) recipients of all nationalities.
Patricia and Phillip Frost Fellowship
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Fellowship is offered to support research in American art and visual culture.
Kress Publication Fellowship
Supports postdoctoral scholars working on a Corinth or Agora publication assignment with preference given to those working on a volume rather than an article. A minimum of 3 months to maximum of 9 months will be funded.
Critical Language Scholarship Program
Critical Language Scholarships support intensive overseas study in the critically needed foreign languages: Arabic, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu. Programs range from 8 weeks to 11 weeks.
Tyson Scholars of American Art Program
This residential fellowship provides support for research in American Art for 6 weeks to 9 months. The fellowship includes housing, office space, and a stipend. Awards are available at the pre- and postdoctoral levels.
