Awards for Scandinavians to study in the US

Applicants must be citizens of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. The number and size of awards granted annually varies widely between countries. Contact the ASF’s cooperating organizations for specific information regarding elegibility, award size and application deadlines.

Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant – Law & Social Science

The Law & Social Sciences Program considers proposals that address social scientific studies of law and law-like systems of rules. The Program is inherently interdisciplinary and multi-methodological.

Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant – Decision, Risk and Management Sciences

The Decision, Risk and Management Sciences program supports scientific research directed at increasing the understanding and effectiveness of decision making by individuals, groups, organizations, and society. DDRIGs cover expenses such as travel, special equipment, and participation fees.

Art History Fellowships

Andrew W. Mellon Fellowships in art history support PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and senior museum professionals whose research projects relate to the Museum’s collections. Applicants should have received their doctorate or have completed substantial work toward it.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

Postdoctoral fellowship provides promising and highly qualified recent Ph.D. recipients with the opportunity to conduct research at leading universities in the field of Korean studies so that they can further develop their scholarship as well as have their dissertations published as manuscripts.

Research Internship, Archibold Biological Station.

6-12 month internship combining laboratory training and field research. Interns spend 10 to 30 hours per week on assigned duties with station staff researchers. Research interests include varied ecological and environmental science disciplines. Room and board plus small stipend.

Neurolinguistics Dissertation Fellowship

This awards supports doctoral research in the cognitive, clinical, and neural foundations of language. The research must involve both language and brain variables. Applicants must have advanced to candidacy and need to be nominated by their program chair or graduate director.

Student Research Scholarship

Bat Conservation International (BCI) requests proposals through its online application system from university students, conservation organizations, and individual researchers/conservationists interested in seeking financial support for their projects.

Future Conservationist Award

The Future Conservationist Award is granted to teams carrying out high-priority conservation projects lasting between 3 and 12 months. Winning teams will receive grants of up to $12,500 as well as training and support throughout their projects.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

Postdoctoral fellowships in mathematics are available to EU citizens or those who obtained their Ph.D. in mathematics in Europe. Grants provide funding for up to one year with the opportunity to travel to for short stays at various research institutes around Europe.
