The Center for Jewish History offers ten-month fellowships to doctoral candidates to support original research using the collections of the Center’s partners. Full fellowship carry a stipend of up to $17,500 for a period of one academic year.

Joseph S. Steinberg Emerging Jewish Filmmaker Fellowship
Undergraduate and graduate emerging filmmakers working on their own original projects on topics related to modern Jewish history are encouraged to apply for this fellowship, which supports research in the archives housed at the Center. Awards are up to $5,000 and access to archives at the Center.
CLIR/Library of Congress Mellon Fellowship
The CLIR fellowship funds dissertation projects that examine primary sources using the new technologies available at the Library of Congress. Applicants’ research should reveal previously hidden content of original sources and support new interpretations of those sources.
Charlton Oral History Research Grant
Individual scholars with training and experience in oral history research who are conducting oral history interviews to address new questions and offer fresh perspectives can receive a grant of $3000 for the academic year.
Friends of the MCEAS Fellowship
This fellowship supports nine months of in-residence dissertation research and writing at the McNeil Center in Philadelphia. It is intended to facilitate dissertation research dealing with the Philadelphia or the Mid-Atlantic region before 1850, and encourages the use of the Philadelphia area’s magnificent manuscript, rare books, and museum collections. One-semester fellowships may also be available.

LOreal-UNESCO Women in Science International Fellowships
This program promotes the contributions of young women from around the world to research developments in the life sciences in order to enhance the role of women in science. Fifteen one-year fellowships for post-doctoral and doctoral students are awarded each year .
Dana and David Dornsife Fellowship
Award supports nine to twelve months of research in residence. Applicants must be pursuing scholarship in a field appropriate to the Huntington’s collections. PhD required by June the year of application.
Inter-American Foundation’s Grassroots Development Fellowships
These fellowships support PhD candidates to conduct dissertation research (4-12 months) in Latin America and the Caribbean on topics related to grassroots development. Applicants must have US citizenship, or be citizens of an independent Latin American or Caribbean country (except Cuba).
Canadian Home Economics Association (CHEA) Fellowship
Awarded to a candidate studying one or more aspects in the field of home economics at the master or doctoral level. The applicant must be accepted or enrolled in a post-graduate program in Canada at the time of application.
