Grants-in-Aid of Research

These grants of up to $1000 provide undergraduate and graduate students in the sciences and engineering with the funds to pay for travel expenses and lab equipment for their research projects. Their goal is to promote scientific excellence and achievement through hands-on learning.

Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. Research Fellowships

Preference in this fellowship is given to applicants specializing in Latin American or Western Hemisphere history or policy studies during the Kennedy Administration or the period from the Roosevelt through the Kennedy presidencies. Helen M. Robinson Grant

The Helen M. Robinson Grant is a $1,200 award given annually to assist doctoral students at the early stages of their dissertation research in the area of reading and literacy. Applicants must be Association members.

Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Health Outcomes

The PhRMA Foundation Post Doctoral program in health outcomes provides stipend support for individuals engaged in a research training program that will create or extend their credentials in health outcomes. The award consists of a $55,000 annual stipend for up to 2 years.

Research Fellowships in Palestinian Studies- US Citizens

The research must contribute to Palestinian studies in many areas. Individual and joint research projects are eligible. Women and minority applicants are especially encouraged. Research must take place in Palestine, Israel, Jordan or Lebanon.

International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF)

The Mellon IDRF offers 9-12 months of support to graduate students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences who are enrolled in PhD programs in the United States. Dissertation research must be conducted outside the United States, about non-US topics. The average award is $20,000.

Fellowship Program

ARCE administers short term fellowships for study in Egypt (up to 12 months) for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students. Amounts and time frames vary by fellowship.

Theodore C. Sorensen Research Fellowship

Fellowship is intended to support a scholar in the production of a substantial work in the areas of domestic policy, political journalism, polling, press relations or a related topic. Applications are typically due September 30.

Jeanne S. Chall Research Fellowship

The Jeanne S. Chall Research Fellowship is a $6,000 grant established to encourage and support dissertation research in reading by promising scholars. The fellowship supports research in areas including stages of beginning reading, reading development, and relation of vocabulary to reading.

Abba P. Schwartz Research Fellowship

This fellowship is administered by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation from funds provided by the family, friends, and colleagues of Abba Schwartz. Mr. Schwartz served in the Kennedy Administration as Assistant Secretary of State for Security and Consular Affairs. The Schwartz Fellowship carries a stipend of up to $3,100.
