American Dissertation Fellowships

Dissertation Fellowships provide a $20,000 stipend to women who will be in their final phase of dissertation write up during the fellowship year. Applicants must be ABD, and have received approval for their research proposals. The competition is open to applicants in all fields of study.

International Fellowships

International Fellowships award for full-time study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Fellowships support graduate or postgraduate studies at accredited institutions. Recipients are selected for academic achievement and commitment to women and girls.

Selected Professions Fellowships

This fellowship supports women who intend to pursue full-time study at accredited institutions in one of the designated degree programs where women’s participation traditionally has been low. The fellowship is for master’s level degree programs only, and does not support doctoral studies.

Dr. Margaret McWilliams Pre-Doctoral Fellowship

This is awarded to a woman who has completed at least one calendar year in a full-time doctoral program and is enrolled in full-time studies in Canada or abroad at the time of application. Must be Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.

CFUW Memorial/Professional Fellowship

The candidate must be enrolled in a master’s degree program in science, mathematics, or engineering in Canada or abroad. Must be Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.

Dr. Alice E. Wilson Award

Awarded to mature students returning to graduate studies in any field, with special consideration given to candidates returning to study after at least three years. Two awards are given at the Masters level and three are given for doctoral level study. Must be Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.

PhD Scholarships

The Foundation supports promote basic research in biomedicine by providing the best young, up-and-coming scientists with comprehensive support during their PhD phase. Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship

The Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship provides a stipend of $25,000 for doctoral candidates in their final year of dissertation writing. Awards are made to individuals who bring diversity to the academy and show potential for scholarly achievement.

Lemelson Center Fellowship

The Lemelson Center Fellowship Program supports projects that present creative approaches to the study of invention and innovation in American society. Fellows are expected to reside in the D.C. area, to participate in the Center’s activities, and to make a presentation their work. $575-$870/week.
