Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program: Postdoctoral Fellowships

Postdoctoral Fellowships of 3-12 months are available for scholars who have held the doctoral degree or equivalent for fewer than seven years as of the application deadline. Fellowships provide opportunities to pursue independent research projects in association with Smithsonian research staff.

Earth and Planetary Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowships

These postdoctoral fellowships, which are for one or more years, are made to scientists who concentrate on geologic and geophysical research of the earth and other terrestrial planets, using remote sensing equipment.

ASF Olin Fellowships

ASF Olin Fellowships are offered annually to individuals seeking to improve their knowledge or skills in advanced fields while looking for solutions to current problems in Atlantic salmon biology, management and conservation.

Fulbright Study/Research (Full) Grants

The program provides support to conduct research and study in a foreign country for an academic year. Applicants must be US citizens. Students in the School of Graduate Studies and New Brunswick graduate students should contact Assistant Dean Teresa Delcorso-Ellmann to initiate an application.

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship

The Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship provides three years of support including an annual stipend and a cost of education allowance. Awards are made to individuals at the early stages of their graduate training who bring diversity to the academy and show potential for scholarly achievement.

EWNJ Graduate Merit Award

This scholarship offers up to $5,000 for permanent NJ resident women who are non-traditional students attending graduate school in NJ. Applicants must have completed at least 12 credits, be currently carrying at least 6 credits, or be considered full time if in the dissertation phase.

Collection Study Grants

This grant provides financial assistance to enable predoctoral and recent postdoctoral investigators to study the ornithological collections at the AMNH. Because the funds are intended for travel and subsistence, applicants within daily commuting range of the museum are not eligible to apply.

Iranian-American Scholarship

The Iranian-American Scholarship fund provides university scholarships for Iranian-American Students, supported by the Iranian community. The Iranian-American Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for Undergraduates, Graduates, and International students. Fellowships for Study or Research in the U.S. for Belgian citizens

Fellowships provide support for Belgian students for 9 months of full-time graduate study, or twelve months for research in the U.S. Study. Additional awards are available for biomedical engineering research and for postdoctoral research in biotechnology. Fellowships for Graduate Study or Research in Belgium

This fellowship supports advanced study or research in Belgium for 6 to 12 months. Applicants must either have a master’s or equivalent degree, or be working towards a PhD in the US. Applicants should make their own arrangements to affiliate with a Belgian University or research institution.
