Summer Scholarships

Two scholarships, one to the Classical Summer School of the American Academy in Rome and one to the Summer Session of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, are open to members who have received a Bachelor’s degree within the past 8 years and who have not received a doctoral degree.

Floyd L. Moreland Scholarship/Christina Dinkle Fund of Latin/Greek Institute of CUNY

Award is to support enrollment in CUNY Latin/Greek Institute. A limited amount of money will be available to help reduce tuition costs for some exceptionally qualified students who demonstrate need.

HortScholars Program

Students who are HortScholars attend the AmericanHort summer conference and have lodging and meals provided for them. They also receive a 1-year AmericanHort membership. Students must have a horticulture or similar major.

Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial MSW Scholarship

The Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a master’s degree candidate in social work who demonstrates an interest in, or has experience with, health/mental health practice and has a commitment to working in the African American community.

Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial MSW Scholarship

Awarded to master’s degree candidates in social work who have demonstrated a commitment to working with, or who have a special affinity with American Indian/Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino populations, or in public and voluntary nonprofit agency settings.

David Pilon Scholarship for Training in Professional Psychology

$1,000 scholarship for a specific training program or opportunity not otherwise available so that an identifiable increase in knowledge in professional practice of psychology. Candidates must be doctoral student members of APAGS, enrolled at least half-time.

College Scholarship Awards

Scholarships are awarded to students with moderate to profound hearing loss who use spoken communication as their primary mode of communication. Awards allow them to continue their education on undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference is given to undergraduates.

Scholarship

A scholarship for up to $5,000 will be granted to a student who is entering an ALA-accredited library school or who has yet to finish at least one half of the program’s requirements in the year following the granting of the scholarship.

Mortar Board National Foundation Fellowships

Since the inception of Mortar Board’s fellowship program in 1941, more than half a million dollars has been given to deserving members of Mortar Board pursuing postgraduate degrees. The Tony B. Leisner Scholarship supports library staff members pursuing an MLS in an ALA accredited program.
