Research Travel Grants

Grants of up to $1000.00 to help defray travel and lodging costs are made to scholars of any academic discipline who are engaged in projects which require substantial use of the collection of the library and/or the archives of the University of Notre Dame.

Hibernian Research Award

The purpose of this award is to further the scholarly study of Irish America by scholars of any academic discipline engaged in a research project studying the Irish experience in the United States.

Workmen’s Circle/ Dr. Emanuel Pratt Visiting Professorship

The Workmen’s Circle/Dr. Emanuel Patt Visiting Professorship in Eastern European Jewish Studies, established by the Van Cortlandt Workmen’s Circle Community House, supports three months of post-doctoral research at the YIVO Library and Archives.

Dora and Meyer Tendler Fellowship

The Dora and Mayer Tendler Endowed Fellowship in Jewish Studies supports doctoral or post-doctoral research in American Jewish history, with special consideration given to scholars working on some aspect of the Jewish labor movement.

Title VIII-Supported Short-Term Grant

These short-term grants allow scholars in the social sciences or the humanities who are researching the former Soviet Union (policy-relevant research preferred), and who need to use the library, archival and other specialized resources of the Washington, DC area.

Dibner Program in the History of Science- Short-Term Award

This fellowship offers a $3,000 monthly stipend for one to five months to PhDs and doctoral candidates in the history of science and technology. Fellows conduct archival research in the Burndy Library and have access to resources on the history of science and technology at The Huntington.

Aleksander & Alicja Hertz Memorial Fellowship

The Aleksander and Alicja Hertz Memorial Fellowship supports doctoral or post-doctoral research on Polish-Jewish history in the modern period, particularly Jewish-Polish relations and Jewish contributions to Polish literature and culture.

Vivian Lefsky Hort Memorial Fellowship

The Vivian Lefsky Hort Memorial Fellowship supports undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate research in Eastern European Jewish literature. The fellowship supports two to three months of research at the YIVO library.

Lillian Gary Taylor Visiting Fellowship in American Literature
