Writing a Personal Statement
Who Are You: By now you’ve had your first appointment with a Fellowship Advisor and have scheduled your second. You’ve thought about audience, your research plans, and where you come from in terms of qualifications. Now it’s time to revisit your intellectual biography, which was the subject of your first blog post this summer.
Beyond your research and your CV, what makes YOU an ideal fit for your funder? What are you passionate about? What motivates you when the research gets tough? While you might look back at your first blog post introducing yourself to the group for inspiration, this time build on it with the knowledge you have gained by directing your post to an audience composed of interdisciplinary scholars who may be in this group, on the internet, or may very well be on your funder’s committee of readers. Group D should post responses by 8 p.m. on Thursday August 25th. Group B will post comments by 8 p.m. on Sunday August 28th.
